The Art Of the Online Testimonial

Reviews and Testimonials are a fuzzy area for everyone!! Author of this post, Jay George, gives some pretty great advice!

Testimonials are a perfect way to provide more credibility to you, your brand or business!! But remain authentic!!

The Wackness

In a world where we have seemingly endless choices, it’s no wonder approximately 88% of consumers use online reviews to make a decision about a product or service.

busted

Online reviews & feedback almost always determines what we buy, where we shop, where we’ll go to dinner and in a few, if terrifyingly extreme, instances, what one will name their child. Talk about having some power.

5 Key Facts About Online Testimonials

  1. 88% of consumers read online reviews to determine whether a business is trustworthy. (This is especially true for local businesses.)
  2. Trust is dependent on whether a reader believes the review(s) are authentic.
  3. Review quality creates trust.
  4. Quantity is critical, yet trust still holds the trump card.
  5. 9 of 10 consumers value an online review as much as a personal recommendation.

Because testimonials are key marketing components, it’s tempting to ask your clients to review your business. If they have…

A matter of time!!

Hello loves!! So there’s much to catch up on. I have done some revamping and much deleting since most posts are 2-3 years old and I’m starting a fresh slate. I want to just bring the blog up to date like I never left!! I was just trying to figure out the direction of the blog and I’m back and with much better content to offer!!

My business offers Fashion Show Production as well as Creative Consulting. I plan to post about fashion/event trends and need-to-know topics, along with motivation, and my ideas on how you can make money with your passion!! This is a little bit of my journey and I’ll be documenting my productions as well as an inside look as I build my brand!!

Please remember that I am no journalist but I have some great stuff to share and feel free to comment and connect with me!!

Here’s a timeline to show you what I’ve been up to while M.I.A. from here!!

  • May 2014-Graduation Spring 2014- B.A. in Fashion Merchandising from Marymount University

  • May 2014-Hired as Event Coordinator at the Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center
  • January 2015-Opened the doors to Dunn W. Style, LLC offering Fashion Show Production & Creative Consulting

time  is something that you can never ever get back. Through the blog I lost a lot of time that I could of have been building but for good reason, in my opinion, I had nothing of value to really say yet. As you can see, I have something to offer to anyone stopping by my blog. I have gained a lot of experience. Made a difference with fashion for multiple years to get gifts under the tree for Christmas! I achieved a major goal to get my bachelors degree and I also opened the doors to my own business and I have clients!! OMG!! Thank you God is all I can say!! I pray for opportunities and he places them upon my path!!

Until next time…Picasso baby!

OPERATION: GIFT OF FASHION 2012…Behind the scenes!

I know right my goal, but for good reason I promise!! Happy Holidays!!! The semester is over and the Gift of Fashion showcase was a huge SUCCESS!!! I told you all that I was the  backstage coordinator for the Gift of Fashion!! I was extremely organized and everything came together very nicely!!! Sooo, these events are chaotic, but this is my zone, my element!! ya know, so this was a love/hate relationship back there especially because my job is to ensure everything and everyone is where they need to be doing what they need to be doing, and ensuring everything goes smooth, fast, and efficient as possible behind the scenes and on the runway!! Despite, a M.I.A. MUA and a flakey designer and model (I must keep it real)….OMG IT WAS AMAZE!!!

RECAP of mostly backstage and will get some runway shots up as they  become available!!

Big Shoutout to everyone that was a part of the show’s success this year!! I have to thank the team Cre8tive Chemistry, Jay Nicole,  John and Sports Zone,  Designers, Models, Dj, Reesa Renee, Photographers, hair Stylists and last but certainly not least MY BACKSTAGE CREW!!! I have to say def. loved the crew!!! I had cousins on make-up, pix of behind the scenes, my dad helping with music, 2 cousins were models, and cousins as dressers and Though many were my cousins that didn’t mind helping and a few that volunteered for a good cause mixed with fashion!!! Without each person, we couldn’t have made the show work!! Ending the night with a box filled with toys and raising $400 for Toys for Tots!!

LET’S JUST DIVE IN… Yes, my cousin Pierre (pierre_edwards1@yahoo.com) made this Amazing program for the show!!! My families quite lovely, aren’t they!!

photo 2 edit1

So the MUA that was M.I.A was replaced by some samples that Tony and Jazmine went around Georgetown looking for…well, that was the last option since neither M.A.C nor Sephora would lend us an MUA for a good cause…BUT THE SAMPLES WERE CLUTCH, and my cousins Lovie and Tiffany along with helpers Rudy and her team did it up on the models for their make-up…THANK YOU THANK YOU!! I am away in Florida til’ after Christmas, so once I’m home I will load more pix!!

GIFT OF FASHION 2012

;

Thanksgiving is over and I hope yours was lovely! My mom and sisters came in to town and stayed with me and the hubs! Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, tis the season to be stylish!! yes, [dunn] in style at this event I’m going to give you the scoop on.

As promised beautiful people….updates as the show nears!!! so, [in case you missed the ‘Model Call post’] Cre8tive Chemistry is having their annual fashion showcase. This year, teaming up with Sports Zone to present to the DMV, “Gift of Fashion” 2012, all ticket sales and toy donations are going to help Toys for Tots get some presents to some kids that will be waiting on Santa!

The Gift of Fashion will be presented, Saturday, December 15, 2012 @9:30 pm at the Sports Zone, Georgetown Location…..and the theme is AMAZE!!

since we are teaming up with Sports Zone, “The original Washington D.C. sneaker store” its only right that we ask all attendees to come dressed to impress, chic and sophisticated, and in your favorite most dope pair of sneakers! [Don’t you just love that idea!!) I don’t think I have explained my love for Jays and Dunks 😉 ….save that for another post! To clarify, we are not biting but more so paying homage to the “Sneaker Ball” theme…I can’t wait to see everyone’s individual fashion statements the night of the show, at its best of course! The Area definitely steps out very well dressed for the occasion, so I have no worries. I will be backstage, so I will probably see through pictures haha! But I love it backstage!!

here’s the run down…

What can you expect at the show: light refreshments, music, and giveaways for sure!!

Host: Nadia

Music: DJ Casper

admission: $5 or FREE w/ a new unwrapped toy to donate (All proceeds from ticket sales goes to Toys for Tots but we encourage you to bring a toy and enjoy the show!!)

Featured Designers:

Newly Renovated, Syreeta C, Afro Barbie & Ken, Ekklesia Clothing, and Georgetown Denim Co.

HAPPY VETERANS DAY DwS

yep!! that’s me!! before becoming a MRS. before becoming a fashion student!! I was in the United States Air Force. I have to say I am very proud to have served my country and to have met some wonderful people! On this day I would like to honor all that have served and all that have died serving our country!! I can’t thank the Air Force enough, for all it has done for me!

HAPPY VETERANS DAY TO MYSELF AND ALL THAT HAVE SERVED AND THOSE THAT ARE STILL SERVING!!!!

Before joining the military I was as independent as I could possibly be, but I was unable to afford college or a car. My mom taught me to be nothing but independent, and when my father-in-law (retired col. in the Marines, HAPPY VETERANS DAY!!) suggested that I was working so hard and I should join the Air Force, that following Monday, I was at the recruiters office.  I had been praying for all of the things that I was unable to get and do before I joined the military, and God answered all of my prayers in due time.

My family was unable to pay for school, and the military has taken care of that.

I was unable to get approved for a car before the military and I had been working since I was 15, but right after Basic Training I got approved over for a car loan. I then went and bought the car I wanted that I couldn’t get approved for pre-military. (all black 2008 Pontiac G5 coupe, barely any miles on her!)

And now as a Veteran, I can go to school with the post 9/11 GI BILL and can actually opt for the major I love, FASHION MERCHANDISING, instead of doing a “safe” major, my husband and I live very well for 25 year olds’ still tryin’ to get it out here!, and yesterday I traded my car in and got a 2012 Honda Civic! GOD IS GOOD! and it’s just seeing these blessings, especially on Veterans Day makes me super proud to have been able to serve my Country and SUPER SUPER proud of myself for making the decision to do something that I didn’t want to do but needed to do and that so many won’t or don’t do. To all that have made the sacrifice, as well as our families, THANK YOU!!!

xoxo,

DwS
